This structure Diagnostic Pre-Test below is for PBT (Paper Based Test).

Diagnostic Pre-Test is held to

1. Find out someone's structure or grammar skill before studying the them.
2. Check how far TOEFL Test Takers have mastered grammar.
3. Find out someone's written skill before studying written skill
4. Check how well TOEFL Test Takers have mastered written expression

The pre-test consists of two parts:

1. Structure - 15 numbers (No 1 - 15)
2. Written expression - 25 Numbers (No 15 - 40)


Structure Diagnostic Pre-Test usually takes about 25 minutes. The test also includes the directon on how to do the structure pre-test.

This section is designed to measure your ability to recognize language that is appropriate for standard written English. There are two types of questions in this section, with special directions for each type.

Structure

Directions: These questions are incomplete sentences. Beneath each sentence you will see four words or phrases, marked (A), (B), (C), and (D). Choose the one word or phrase that best completes the sentence. Then, on your answer sheet, find the number of the question and fill in the space that corresponds to the letter of the answer you have chosen.

Look at the following examples.

Example I

The president _________ the election by a landslide.

(A) won
(B) he won
(C) yesterday
(D) fortunately

The sentence should read, “The president won the election by a landslide.” Therefore, you should choose answer (A).



Example II
